The Addison a luxury wedding and event venue in Boca Raton; first broke records in 2013 for becoming the only venue dedicated exclusively to weddings and events to receive the coveted Five Star Diamond. The Five Star Diamond refers to the international recognition of high-quality bestowed by the New York City-based American Academy of Hospitality Sciences (AAHS). The Addison is the only Five Star-awarded events venue in Florida.
This spring, The Addison has done it again by accepting the first Five Star Diamond ever to be awarded for “Glatt Kosher” (“unquestionably kosher”) cuisine.
At a “Golden Age Gala” on March 31, The Addison unveiled its original brand of Orthodox Rabbinical Board (ORB)-supervised “Glatt Kosher” catering, with glowing reviews from the roughly 100 South Florida Orthodox Jewish leaders in attendance.
Rabbi Josh Broide, the Jewish community leader affiliated with Boca Raton Synagogue (a Modern Orthodox synagogue in Boca Raton), said: “The gala was great. To have a high-end kosher Five Star facility in the area will definitely meet a previously unmet need for a certain market. The décor was tremendous and the food was incredible. Every course was simply delicious. “
Joseph Cinque, AAHS President: “The Addison has raised the bar for the entire South Florida community when it comes to outstanding service, atmosphere and cuisine. We have been proud to have them as members of the Five Star Diamond club. It is no surprise their new ‘Glatt Kosher’ catering program offers the same excellence and has earned them the 2015 Five Star Diamond.“
Dr. William and Deborah Rand, founders of the Rand Eye Institute in Deerfield Beach, hosted the inaugural Addison “Glatt Kosher” event in December 2014. Debbie Rand: “Knowing of the venue’s outstanding food, top-notch service and unique beauty, I am proud to have been the first to host an Addison ‘Glatt Kosher’ event. It was truly an impressive night where my kosher and non-kosher guests were able to enjoy Five Star outstanding food, service and ambience. It was an amazing event with everlasting memories. “
The new catering program is the result of Addison Executive Chef Patrick Duffy and his culinary team’s desire to bring the same award-winning food to the kosher community.
Duffy said: “This is a brand-new approach to ‘Glatt Kosher’ catering, developed specifically with this community in mind. It was important to us that our ‘Glatt Kosher’ cuisine and the service be identical to the Five Star Diamond-quality food the Addison is known for. “
For the “Golden Age Gala,” guests arrived to the restored Spanish-inspired property (build by architect Addison Mizner in 1926) to roaring 20’s music provided by Good Vibrations and over the top décor designed and donated by Benny Ofar, owner of Daniel Events.
The décor was complete with a faux Speakeasy façade, scattered old-fashioned light posts and life-size props placed throughout the courtyard.
The outdoor cocktail reception wowed guests as they lounged on antique living room furniture on loan from Refinery Vintage placed under the venue’s famed pair of 100-year-old banyan trees.
“Glatt kosher” cocktails and butler passed hors d’oeuvres were served, including Spicy Tuna Tostada, Mini Salmon Cakes, Nut Crusted Chicken Skewers and Tomato Basil Crostini, among others.
Attendees were invited inside the historical Main Dining Room for dinner where white fabric draping, hanging crystal accents and tall floral centerpieces merged with the natural Old-World feel of the restored 1920’s space to create a perfect incarnation of Gatsby-inspired grandeur.
Guests were treated to a surprise welcome performance by famed tenor Christopher Macchio, who traveled straight from a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City to attend the gala.
After a first course of fresh Mango and Watermelon Salad, guests enjoyed a choice of cooked-to-order Peppercorn Crusted Rib Eye Steak or Herb & Lemon Marinated Sea Bass with Red Skin Parsley Potatoes and Broccolini.
The official 2015 Five Star Diamond was awarded to Duffy and the executive team as guests enjoyed individual Vanilla Rum Cakes.
Upon acceptance of the 2015 Five Star Diamond Award, Addison Director Zoe Lanham thanked the AAHS for bestowing the honor, as well as her team for earning it.
Lanham said: “The cornerstone of an Addison event has always been providing a superior dining experience for guests, and our staff is both inspired by and dedicated to exceeding that expectation every day. This award is a testament to the group of talented and hardworking people I am fortunate enough to have on my team. “
