Brett Woods Event Decorator from Daniel Events gives us an inside look on creating a beautiful Rustic Garden wedding at the Addison for Desiree and Scott.
Desiree had a very clear vision of the look, style and overall feel for her wedding. The first priority was creating the feel of being in a fragrant garden. Each of her bridesmaids carried bouquets of fragrant fresh lavender mixed with eucalyptus. These bouquets complimented the cascading white Phaleanopsis Orchids, Mimosa Foliage and Queen Annes Lace in her bouquet.

We accented the groom with a composition of Blue Thistle, Lavender and Eucalyptus.

The aroma of Lavender permeated from the moment you entered the space; tables were accented with rustic lanterns and bunches of fresh California Lavender.

The rustic garden vibe continued with rustic wine crates stacked on tables. To bring in a touch of elegance we added silver mercury containers with Rosemary, Thistle, Lavender and Dusty Miller. The texture was very important to Desiree, using a collection of scented foliage with the crates and sparkle of mercury glass set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Desiree wanted a traditional Chuppah with a rustic twist. We started with using rustic Birch Logs to form the base of the Chuppah. Her family Tallis was used to accent the roof. The floral on this had to be just right. Desiree had two requests…..Succulents and Lavender. With that in mind we used Thistle, Millet, Queen Annes Lace, Rosemary, Antique Hydrangea, Succulents and Lavender. The entire ceremony was perfumed with Rosemary and Lavender.

Setting the scene for her dinner reception started with the linens and chairs. Grace and I put our heads together and presented a neutral casual pallet. Walnut Bengaline linens, Tuscan farm chairs, with matching pads and napkins. To add a bit of sparkle we selected clear charger plates with silver rimmed detail and stemware accented the same way.

To complete our casual and elegant garden theme we added vintage festival lights with grapevine. This accented the existing Tivoli lights in the trees around the fountain.

The centerpieces were in a sparkling low compote dish of mercury glass, we used the same fragrant foliages and flowers with the addition of Snowberries, French Roses and Lisianthus. The look was finished with clear water goblet candle holders with glowing candles.

The cake was placed on wood tree discs and accented with White Peonies, Succulents, Snowberries, Astilbe, Antique Hydrangea and Blue Thistle.
